The tendon is a durable fibrous cord that connects muscles to bones. The tendon can tear or snap, especially when practicing some strenuous sports, or become frayed or severed as a result of an accident. Tendons are also susceptible to inflammation, and this condition is called tendinitis, which is an inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tendon. Similar injuries of varying severity can occur as a result of excessive stress or muscle tear.
Shoulder tendon
A common tendon injury among bodybuilders is the shoulder tendon injury. It is one of the causes of shoulder pain, as the rotator cuff consists of a group of muscles and tendons that are attached to the bones of the shoulder joint and allow smooth movement of the shoulder and maintain the stability of the joint. The shoulder joint consists of a ball that connects the upper part of the arm bone to the shoulder blade and controls the movement of the shoulder joint.
The rotator cuff tendons pass behind the bony area and attach to the top of the arm bone. When tendonitis becomes more sensitive when moving the shoulder, especially when lifting weights.
Shoulder pain occurs as a result of lack of grip and stability of the body and joints while performing shoulder exercises in the gym.
Knee cartilage
A knee meniscus tear is defined as a severe tear in the tendons of the joint in the knee, resulting in severe pain that may prevent you from walking at times. There are two types of hip cartilage tears: in the first type, part of the tissue and fibers next to the tendon are torn, but the tendon remains connected, but in the second type, a complete severing of the tendon occurs and is more painful.
Knee cartilage injuries occur when lifting very heavy weights in the wrong way or when the body is unstable while performing exercises.
Preventing cartilage injuries
To prevent cartilage injuries, you must be careful while performing exercises and maintain your body stability, and be careful when you increase weights in your exercise, in addition to consulting the trainer on how to perform the exercises correctly and safely.
Treatment of cartilage and tendon injuries
When you feel any abnormal pain in any of the tendons of your body, it is recommended to go to the doctor directly, but if you are not sure of the nature of the pain, it is advised to stop any sporting activity or exercise that affects the affected area, in addition to using warm masks on the area, and finally to exercise correctly. Do not increase weights beyond your capacity.
